Officially In: Why I’m Running for Ward 1 Councillor
It’s official: I’ve filed my papers and launched my campaign to represent you as your Ward 1 Councillor here in the Town of Gravenhurst.
As a fifth generation resident, lifelong community volunteer, and local small business owner, this town isn’t just where I live. It’s who I am. I see the challenges we face every day: navigating our year round economy, fixing neighbourhood infrastructure like safe sidewalks and park access, and keeping our town affordable and vibrant. I’m running to bring practical, common sense leadership to Town Hall so our everyday working families and neighbourhoods always have a strong, accessible voice in the room.
We don’t need fancy political slogans or complicated rhetoric; we need practical solutions that actually fix the basics, protect our waterfront, and breathe new life into our local businesses.
“I’m not a career politician. I’m an average Joe who loves this town and believes Council needs to do a lot more listening and a lot less talking. I’m running to give our neighbours an authentic voice at Town Hall and make sure no one in our community is left behind, whether you cast your ballot for me or not.”Gordie Merton
Over the coming months, I’ll be hitting the pavement, knocking on doors, and listening to what matters most to you. Let’s sit down, talk through our community’s future, and build a town we’re all proud to call home. If you want to check out our full platform, grab a lawn sign, or just reach out to chat, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s get to work!
