Beating the Heat and Hitting 80+ Doors: Saturday Morning Canvass Update
We laced up our running shoes early this morning to get out on the pavement before the August midday heat rolled in, and what a great morning it turned out to be! Along with some fantastic volunteer help, we managed to knock on more than 80 doors across Ward 1, covering John Street North, Hughson Street, Sarah Street, and Farquhar Street.
Meeting folks on their front porches and hearing firsthand what matters most to your families is the absolute best part of this campaign. Whether we talked about local road safety, keeping our town affordable, or just shared a quick morning laugh, every single doorstep reminds me why I’m stepping up to run for Council. Huge shoutout and special thank you to Mat for walking the route with me today and keeping our pace up!
“Campaigning isn’t about sitting behind a desk or putting up signs and calling it a day. It’s about showing up, looking our neighbours in the eye, and doing the walking. With your support, your ideas, and your trust, we can bring common sense teamwork to Town Hall this October.”Gordie Merton
On a quick personal note to everyone waiting on the next campaign email newsletter: I’m running just a little behind on getting it out the door, and I appreciate your patience! Between the store, walking the neighbourhoods, and family time, things get busy, but I’ll have that update landing in your inboxes between tonight and tomorrow. Thank you so much for the warm welcomes at the doors today, and I’ll see you on the next street soon!
